  • 2ask "The 2ask Awards uses a five-star judging system for reviewing sites. Speed and ease of use, design, quality of content, timeliness, and the level of interactivity and use of technology are all equal considerations, representing one star each" This site started out as a directory of internet tools, grew to a directory of more than 1000 search sites, and now lists and rates sites on it's own.
  • Aliweb "...ALIWEB proposes that people just keep track of the services they provide, in such a way that automatic programs can simply pick up their descriptions, and combine them into a searchable database. Because automatic programs cannot understand natural language, these descriptions will have to be written in a concise and standard format. " This is large UK database of web sites, but to include your site it requires you to put a specific file in a specific area of your server, and follow its form exactly. There are far easier sites to submit to...

  • Four11 White Page Directory "Internet's largest white page directory with over 10 Million listings. The best way to search for someone's e-mail address or Web page." Chances are, you are already listed here. If you register, you will get more access, and can personalize your listing. This is a great way for people to find you.
  • Galaxy "To find the right place in Galaxy for your information, you can: Start at the Galaxy home page and work your way down the topics, Search Galaxy Pages for a page which contains information similar to yours..." This catalog does a good job of pointing out links to by WWW, Gopher, and Telnet sites.
  • The HUGE List "If your browser supports forms, please fill out our Surfers Survey after you have a look around. " A listing of links, sorted by catagory, with no discriptions or other clues of value.
  • INFOMINE "Welcome to University of California, Riverside's INFOMINE. Leave a email to suggest a resource that might be added. If you site has resources of relevance to faculty, students, and research staff at the university level they should be listed here.

  • JumpCity "Please tell us who created it, who will benefit from using it, what it contains, how often it is updated, and any other information you'd care to include that would be of interest to potential users of your site." A database of Web Site reviews.

  • Starting Point "Submissions are added to our "New Sites" section on the day they are received--in one of our 12 categories." Beware their Limit: 160 Characters for your discription. Lines that don't fit their box format are broken in mid word.
  • Switchboard "Find over 10 million businesses across the U.S.A. for free. Whether or not they're on the web. Day or night with immediate results." This is a great search engine for finding friends, and folks you went to school with. What limits it's business use is someone would have to know your business name before they could find you. A basic listing is free and includes the following: Business Name (up to 30 characters) Street Address City State ZIP Code Phone Number Fax Number (optional) Toll-free Number (optional) Category Information
  • TheYellowPages.com "Over 1,000 places to advertise your products, services or website for almost zero cost or even free!" Lists about 1,451 links, making it small by some yellow page listings.

  • The WWW Virtual Library "Please mail to the following addresses to add new documents to the World-Wide Web Virtual Library."This is a list of more than 200 virtual libraries. Find the group that your site would be of interest to and contact them through this page.
