  • Submit-It! "The purpose of this document is to provide you with background information on search engine technology and some tips on how to get your URL to appear on the result pages of search engines and directories." Great overview of what search engines are and how to get your listing noticed.
  • Position Agent "Enter the URL for your web site, then enter one or more keywords that represent your product or service. PositionAgent will search the leading engines and create a report detailing whether the site is found and at which position." The free version searches the first 5 pages of results from 12 top search engines and 20 pages from Yahoo and Alta-Vista. The commercial version will keep you updated on you listings by email, and costs $60 for 6 months of weekly reports on 5 URL/keyword combinations.
  • How to Announce your New Web Site "The purpose of this FAQ is to help show you how to publicize your new Web site. Although there are many sites listed here, the purpose is not to show you where. If you follow the hints and guidelines below you will certainly increase you readership." Good solid advice on how to go about promoting your site. A fine place to start your quest.
  • Multimedia Marketing Group "To help you (and us) maximize the return from your (and our) efforts, we have compiled the best 100 sites into an online annotated database, with hyperlinks directly to the registration page of each site. We have also included remarks and tips on how to register effectively with each site. This database, called the TOP 100 Free Listings Master Index, is updated regularly and is made available free of charge to the Internet community." If the information and lists that this site has are any indication of the quality of their services, these would be good people to have working for you.
  • FreeLinks "FreeLinks categorizes databases, search engines & links pages where you can list your site for free. This is a free service to aid and simplify your Web Site promotion efforts." What this site lacks in graphic splendor it makes up in scope. Lots of links to post your URL to, sorted into useful categories. Many links lack descriptions, but still quite a useful site.
